There’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all skincare routine—and that’s the beauty of it. Your skin is unique and changes with the seasons, stress levels, and even your diet. That’s why it’s not only okay, but smart, to mix and match your products based on your skin’s current needs.
The Art of Layering
Layering your skincare products the right way can make a huge difference in how effective they are. Here's a simple guide to help you get the most out of your routine:
1. Cleanser
Start with a clean canvas. Use a gentle cleanser suited to your skin type—gel for oily, cream for dry, or micellar water for sensitive skin.
2. Toner or Essence
These prep your skin, balance your pH, and allow for better absorption of serums that follow.
3. Serums
This is where you target specific skin concerns.
Use Vitamin C in the morning for brightening.
Try Hyaluronic Acid for hydration.
Use Niacinamide to control oil and refine pores.
Choose Retinol at night to boost cell turnover.
🧠 Tip: Apply from thinnest to thickest consistency. Water-based serums go first, followed by oil-based ones.
4. Eye Cream
Gently tap in an eye cream to hydrate and protect the delicate eye area.
5. Moisturiser
Lock in all the goodness with a moisturiser suited to your skin type. Choose lightweight gel moisturisers for oily skin or thicker creams for dry skin.
6. SPF (AM only)
Never skip this! SPF is your daily defence against UV damage, premature ageing, and pigmentation.
Why Mixing & Matching Works
Your skin isn’t the same every day—why should your routine be?One day it’s dry, the next you’re breaking out. You can (and should) tailor your routine to reflect those changes.
Dry patches? Add an extra layer of hyaluronic acid serum.
Breakouts flaring? Spot treat with salicylic acid or clay masks.
Feeling dull? Brighten up with vitamin C or an AHA exfoliator.
Mixing products from different brands is completely fine, as long as you’re aware of how the ingredients interact. Avoid layering too many actives at once (like retinol + AHAs + vitamin C) unless guided by a skincare professional.
