Fruit acids, also known as AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids), are naturally derived from fruits and are celebrated in skincare for their ability to exfoliate, brighten, and renew the skin. Here’s how to make them work for your glow.

🍊 What Are Fruit Acids?

Fruit acids gently exfoliate the top layer of skin, improving cell turnover and helping other skincare ingredients absorb better. The most common types include:

  • Glycolic Acid (from sugar cane): Best for dull, dry, aging skin. Deeply exfoliates and boosts collagen.

  • Lactic Acid (from milk or fruit): Hydrating and gentle. Ideal for dry, sensitive, or mature skin.

  • Citric Acid (from citrus fruits): Brightens and balances pH. Often found in toners or serums.

  • Malic Acid (from apples): Gently exfoliates and hydrates. Great for combination or sensitive skin.

  • Tartaric Acid (from grapes): Evens tone and texture. A balancing acid often paired with others for smoother results.

Where to Use Them in Your Routine

  • Cleanser: Mild exfoliation to start the day (use 2–3 times a week).

  • Toner/Essence: A gentle dose post-cleanse to prep for serums.

  • Serum: For more targeted, potent effects. Use at night, 2–3 times a week.

  • Mask: Weekly treatments to refresh and reveal glowing skin.

🔄 When & How Often?

Use at night to avoid sun sensitivity. Start with 1–2 times a week, and increase frequency as your skin builds tolerance. Always follow with a moisturiser and wear SPF 30+ daily.

⚠️ Skin Bytes Tip:

  • Avoid layering multiple acids at once.

  • If you're using retinol or vitamin C, alternate nights to reduce irritation.

  • Sensitive skin? Start with lactic or malic acid.

Let your skin glow naturally with the power of fruit acids!
